Mid-Century Modern in Downtown Bend, Oregon

Mid-Century Modern in Downtown Bend, Oregon

Less is more with clean lines and a simple material palette for this gorgeous backyard oasis.  This is a second home for the homeowners who have great taste and an impeccable eye for design.  They wanted a patio that will fit all their fine furniture (the furniture photos will come soon), a gas hook up for a modern fire pit, another gas hook up for a green egg, a lawn for their children to play, a deck that allowed for another exit out into the back yard, an aspen grove, a mid-century modern walkway to connect the front and the back, and an urban farm where they can harvest apples, plums, and pears.  All of this in a small, urban downtown back yard!

The new deck and the transitional pavers leading you to the new patio.   Notice the existing plum tree, a relic of what once was and an inspiration for the urban farm within the design.  It produces delicious, scrumptious plums and is a lovely specimen.

A view of the lawn, the new deck, and the french door entryways.  Yes, I can even design the exterior of houses!

The back patio, minus the furniture for now.  Note the two trees set within the patio.  They are meant to delineate space, add shade, and provide an organic element within the urban, concrete paver patio.
